Bone Up on Your Christmas History
The History Channel has launched a great microsite about the history of Christmas. Watch videos, see pictures, learn about world Christmas traditions, and much much more.It was especially interesting to read about the history of Santa Claus and the Christmas tree.
The Wikipedia page on Christmas is pretty informative, but is often vandalized, and there aren't as many pictures. But it's worth a shot.
And don't forget to visit Falalalala.com to refresh your Christmas music collection!

Lounge-O-Rama
Almost as if they were named after us, the jazz combo Lounge-O-Rama rocks the SoCal area with rockabilly, big band, and classic standards. The band consists of a trumpet, baritone sax, bass, keyboard, and both female and male singers.
Tomorrow they perform at Pinocchio's Pizza in Pasadena, starting at 8 PM. They promise "Great music from the Great American Songbook; great food (especially the pizza!); family-friendly environment, full bar and beautiful decor at their new location on North Lake. Oh, and...NO COVER!"
The address is:
1449 N Lake Ave
Pasadena, CA 91104
Dyno and I are going to try and go. I've seen them perform and they're SO good! Below is a video of their performance of Louis Prima's "Just a Gigolo." Hope to see you all at Pinnocchio's!

Internet Gold
"Step by step and day by day...reaching out along the way..."Remember the 80's TV shows that had the great opening theme songs, under a montage of classic scenes from the show? I used to sing along to the likes of Charles in Charge, Perfect Strangers, and The Hogan Family.
Well I found the site where you can download all your favorite 80's TV theme songs! (And other decades, too.) It's called Television Tunes! "Sha-la-la-la...!"

The Prairie's Bad Girl Still Lives!
Did you ever wonder where Alison Arngrim (the famous Nellie from Little House on the Prairie) is now? She's trying her hand at comedy in her one-woman show, "Confessions of a Prairie Bitch."
Check out her very brutally honest website, also titled Confessions of a Prairie Bitch.

I've Been Awarded!
I never get an award, an honor, or even as much as a catcall...mostly because, I believe, nobody reads this blog. However, pixie over at The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly has awarded the Lounge with The Diamond Award, because, as she says: "I love reading this blog for frivolous and random entertainment. I also learn a lot about old movies, and it makes me miss living in L.A.!"Well now I feel bad that I haven't posted in a while.
But nothing comes for free. To fully accept this award, I have to follow these rules:
1.) When you receive a Diamond Award, make a post about it on your blog.
2.) Name the blogger from whom you got it, and attach a link to that blog.
3.) Award the diamonds to seven other bloggers.
4.) Link them.
5.) Tell them that they got an award!
So since I'm a total attention whore, and I want to accept this award, here are some blogs that I'd like to pass this award on to:
1. Bedazzled is always good for finding some random, hidden treasures of the past when it comes to video and music. Imagine it like a walk down kitschy Memory Lane.
2. SorryIGotDrunk is my go-to place for anything alcoholic. Every day I need a little shot in the arm of that frat-type, raunchy humor. And Lou is my inspiration for creating this blog, so he deserves an award for creating my obsession.
3. ComedyJuice is the destination for all things funny: commercials, stand-up comedy, information of where and when to see your favorite comic...this place has it all. And it just makes me giggle every time I see the little fruit.
4. FaLaLaLaLa "preserves the memories of Christmas vinyl past." And since I'm a huge fan of Christmas, I go here for any and all of my nostalgic holiday tunes. I found this blog last year and it was a blessing.
5. And then there's The Sneeze. How do you describe this blog? It's as random as we are. And it makes me laugh every time.
6. Last but not least is A Job in Hell ...the freakiest blog in the world, but also the funniest. As Emma says, she doesn't work for the Devil, she just has to work for him. If you thought your job sucked, you should take a visit to Hell.
Damn, I can't think of one other blog...but can I take my award now?!

Monday's This & That
Things are really ramping up around here... I'm getting ready for a well-deserved 2 1/2-week vacation, and that means cranking away at work to get all my shtuff done so I can get the hell outta Dodge! As a result, I haven't found much time to do anything fun lately, but I have found a few choice tidbits of frivolity here and there...Lighters, handbags, coasters, and other goodies featuring pin-up girls, Cary Grant, Clark Gable, Frank Sinatra, and more retro characters are for sale at PinupgirlLighters.com. They're enough to make smoking cool again!
Go back in time by checking out these WWII posters...
And Wired provides us with Air Hostesses of Yesteryear. Fly the friendly skies with an air of nostalgia!
Well, back to my march... And remember, VOTES FOR WOMEN!

What You Didn't Know...
*YAWN* So it's already 9:00 AM and Pixie has tagged me. I've been tagged before, but I just hate answering these things. Then I thought to my self, "Self, you never reveal enough information about yourself. No one knows any details about your personal life." So here are 7 things about me that you may not know:1. I am a graduate of St. Pyre's School of Technical Pyrotechnics in Fioria, Virgin Islands, majoring in Pyrotechnical Arts. I studied under Pietro Pierre, the great international flame thrower. A genius in the world of deflagration.
2. I spend at least 5 hours a day at work procrastinating. This mostly consists of surfing the internet, blogging, playing on my MySpace page, or tooling around in Photoshop.
3. I have a thing for trumpet players. Especially those named Harry who know how to play Hora Staccato.
4. I have an unusually long tongue. When I was born, the doctor suggested to my mother that I get the tip of my tongue chopped off. The very thought of this procedure made her cringe, so she declined. As a result, I can touch my tongue to my nose (as well as many other special talents that shall remain unsaid).
5. Before my work as a pinup girl and go-go dancer, I was a famous big band singer under the stage name Kitty Keller. I sang for our wonderful men in uniform during WWII for the USO, and had 12 very successful albums throughout the 30's and 40's. However, I strained my voice during a performance with Doris Day (okay, more of a shouting match, but that's another story for another day) and I lost my record deal.
5. I've dated many famous men, but Peter Lawford was the one who really broke my heart. I'm especially hurt since there is no record anywhere of our relationship, which leads me to believe that he never has revealed to anyone that we were lovers.
6. I'm a MySpace whore. If you ask to be my friend, I'll automatically just say yes. I don't care who you are, what you believe in, or what you look like. I just want you as a friend!
7. I tried to sleep with Irving Thalberg to get a movie deal at MGM, but Norma Shearer beat me to it. That bitch.
As far as tagging people...I don't really go to other people's blogs, but I do hang out around other people's MySpace pages and websites (see the list on the right). I think if I tagged someone they'd never do it back. And if you're hurt that you didn't get tagged, it's because I don't know what the hell your blog is! Leave your addy in the comments so I can put you in a post or on my links list. Stop lurking and start commenting!!
Oh yeah... the obligatory rules (that I really had trouble following)...
1. Link your tagger and list these rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

WWAD?
When faced with tough fashion, acting, or philanthropic dilemmas, do you ever ask yourself What Would Audrey Do? Well, Pamela Keogh does, in the book that doles out lessons in beauty, grace, and loveliness. Amazon.com describes:• Dating and romantic advice from a woman who enjoyed romances with John F. Kennedy, William Holden [yum!!], and Albert Finney
• A primer on what made Audrey the icon she is today, and how to apply her style choices to twenty-first-century clothes, makeup, and accessories
• Raising children, raising husbands, and making home life balanced in every way
• St. Audrey: Long before Angelina and Bono got all the press, Audrey Hepburn did invaluable work for UNICEF, teaching us much about extending ourselves to others.
In an era fraught with selfishness, artifice, and sensational headlines, the reality and tranquility of Audrey is precisely what the world needs now.
And Amen to that! You can pre-order this book now.

Wednesday's This & That
April is here, and so are the wonderful unseasonable Santa Ana winds! No, I didn't play any April Fool's jokes this year...except on the Lounge MySpace page, where I confessed that I am really a 45-year-old man from Duluth. But no one fell for it...I guess that's a good thing.
Some interesting sites are up and running... Disney fans will love Stuff From the Park, an often nostalgic look with "a collection of images and other items from Disneyland, theme parks and other amusement parks."
It's not very up-to-date (it still doesn't have Season 3 up), but there's a new wiki online for one of the greatest sitcoms on television today, How I Met Your Mother. Chock-full of Barneyisms, trivia, and other fun stuff. Still not as good as the Barney blog on the network site, but it's a start.
And comedy fans will be ecstatic over Comedy Juice, the essential guide to comedy in the universe. Watch videos, read up on your favorite humorists, and find out who's performing when. Very funny, very cool.
I have also just been hired as The Swingin' Capybaras' graphic artist, commissioned to assist in designing their album covers. So far I've completed their latest albums released "Under the Wizard's Cloak, Vol. 3" and "By the Light of My Monster Truck." Check out their MySpace page for all the good stuff.
Enjoy surfing!

No Clue
I was inspired by Anne Taintor.
[Sorry, but I'm gonna have to put watermarks on everything I create from now on. People have been stealing some of my pics and claiming them as their own, particularly on MySpace (even so far as using some of my "Sweepea'd" pinup pics as their own profile pictures!). If people would just take it and then link back to me, I wouldn't mind...but they don't.]
