Sweepea-TV©: Psychedelic Furs!
Dyno and I went to The Justice Ball on Saturday. We were in the VIP Lounge where they had hosted bars and food. There was also a silent auction. Best part was The Psychedelic Furs performed!
I snuck some videos of the Furs performance. About 10 seconds in you can make out the song, and about 20 seconds in you can hear Dyno whistling along...
And here's the rest of the song. This song finished the set for the night.
I am still recovering from the hosted Vodka bar. Vodka/cranberries, good...hangover, bad....
Added 12:15 p.m. I just found this other video I took on my phone. You can hear just how drunk I was, as the transcript goes a bit like this:
My friend: "What are you taking a picture of?"
Me: "I'm taking a video."
My friend: "Oh..."
Me: "Psychedelic Furs!!"
(People around going 'Whoo!' then laughter, at me prolly)
Me: "Now I'm on video all like 'Psychedelic Furs!!!'"

Weekend Re-cap
Well it was quite a weekend. First of all on Friday I got my Wii Fit that I had pre-ordered on Amazon.com. It's so fun -- I did yoga, hula hooping, ski jumping, jogging, stretching, and all sorts of stuff for about an hour a day on Friday, Saturday, and Monday. And let me tell ya -- you really feel it working! This thing is fantastic, and so much fun!And I went to go see Indiana Jones #4 on Saturday with Dyno. I had bought tickets for the Arclight in Sherman Oaks, and we were supposed to meet Guitar Joe and his girl there. But when the time got closer and closer and they still hadn't shown, I started to get worried. We had to all walk in together because I had one ticket for all four of us. Well finally Joe calls and says, "Where are you guys??" and I said, "We're at the bar waiting for you!" And he says, "So are we and we don't see you!" And finally I said, "Are you at the Arclight in Hollywood?" and he goes, "Yeah, where are you?" "Sherman Oaks!!" Well by now it's too late for them to make it to S.O. in time, so I tell him to just drive over and we'll figure something out. Then I look at the tickets and they're for the Hollywood theater. So I'm the bonehead, not Joe. We finally got it all straightened out with Customer Service -- Dyno and I went to a later show in S.O., and they just went without us to the showing in Hollywood. But what a mess!
After the movie -- which was awesome!! -- we went to Ben & Jerry's. There we spotted a famous person, and Dyno and I were nudging each other like "Is that? Is that...?" Finally Dyno goes up to the star and says something, and the guy just nods inexpressively. So I ask Dyno what he said to him. He says, "I said, 'Hey, Carlos, I love your show." As in Carlos Mencia.
I started laughing. "Dyno, that wasn't Carlos Mencia -- that was George Lopez!" Dyno was embarrassed for about a second, until we both thought about it. So George Lopez was identified incorrectly -- and mistaken as his biggest rival. The stand-up comedian still makes a bajillion more money than we'll ever make.
Anyway, before Dyno approached him I snuck a picture.
It was definitely a great weekend.

Sweepea-TV: Chicken Salad Mess
All I wanted was lunch: chicken salad in a can, as part of a kit that includes crackers and a hefty miniature plastic spoon. What I got was a mess when the "easy" pull-tab popped off a little too easily. Thus getting to my lunch required 6 different tools to open and cost me two of my fingernails.
We can put a man on the moon, but we can't make a simple way to open a damn tin can??

Sweepea-TV: Weekend Re-cap
For Labor Day weekend, Dyno and I took the train from the sweltering heat of Los Angeles to the cool breezes of Santa Barbara. We did a lot of walking around town, and a lot of dining. For breakfast we went to Sambo's, a great breakfast joint that -- if I remember correctly -- promised the World's Largest Mimosa. Well, Dyno and I ordered 'em up, but were a bit disappointed by the size of the mimosa. Using the pepper shaker for perspective, you can see why our expectations fell a bit short.
We also did some wine tasting at some of the local wineries, the best being Kalyra.
Needless to say when it was time to head back to the train I was already tipsy. And because we sat in business class, we then got complimentary cocktails!
What's the train equivalent of "booze cruise"?

Sweepea-TV: Damon's in Glendale
There is no finer place in Glendale for steak and tiki faire than Damon's on Brand Blvd. Their two specialty drinks are the Mai Tai and the Chi Chi (pictured below).
Their kitchy paper placemats match the rest of the tiki decor, and the aging waitresses are friendly as they serve fine food at a great price.
View from the floor after many Chi-Chi's...

Sweepea-TV: If These Walls Could Talk
One last thing before I go...I'm sure everyone's heard of Britney's little hit-and-run in Studio City. If not, here are the high low-lights:
After scraping up against another car, she opens the door on it. She takes some time to check her own car, then proceeds in to the vitamin store and a Starbucks. When she returns, she has some mysterious stuff on her butt...and then she drives away, never looking back.
The Starbucks is just down the street from me, so when I went in yesterday for my daily Iced Green Tea Lemonade, the barista told me that the police had just come in to file a report. The barista said that the car Britney hit belonged to the manager of the Starbucks, who was a little miffed that Brit left without leaving a note or anything.
I feel bad for the adorable Yorkie pup. Maybe I'll sue her for custody of it. She's obviously an unfit puppy mommy.
Anyways, after I left the Starbucks, I snapped this picture of the very same parking lot, a day later, with no sign of the previous drama.
Whoopity-doo, I know. I guess I just didn't want to be called a liar again.

Sweepea-TV: Your Kid's Not Cute
Just had to laugh... Apparently a Prudential agent thought it would be cute to put her toddler on her bus stop billboard. See, it says "Do you need a bigger nest?" And her daughter is pointing at us like she's saying it...and...and...yeah, stupid, huh.
Well, I guess someone else agreed because they drew a red mustache and goatee on the kid. Haha.
I wonder if Mom is now regretting the idea of plastering her kid's face all over where people plant their asses and bums take a nap.

Scenes from a Balcony: Scene 3
Today's drama should be called "Oohh...Fi-yah!" Last night the building next door's fire alarm went off. I went out to my balcony to see what was going on and saw that residents were evacuating the building. (As a sidenote, I spotted a few hot guys that live next door. Yee-haw!) There were a bunch of dog owners among them, so the street was filled with dogs barking and the fire alarm wailing. Then I heard sirens in the distance. The fire station is only a couple blocks away, so they were there in no time. I was lucky enough to snap some pictures from my lovely vantage point on the balcony. Two humongous firetrucks parked right in front of my building, right under my balcony. So I got to see all the firefighters climbing out, suiting up, and heading inside.
It seems that whatever caused the alarm to go off stemmed from the garage, because after a while they all headed down there and then residents started pulling their cars out. Then the traffic began. This woman trying to pull in to my building's parking lot drove up and then just stayed there in the middle of the street next to the firetruck, putting on her blinker to signal her intention of turning. The firemen, all inside the building, couldn't move their truck. She got frustrated and just stayed there, blocking other people from coming in to the street. Finally someone got out and yelled at her to move her effing car so other's could pass. I could hear her whine, "I'm trying to get in to my parking lot." What a dumb@ss.

Sweepea-TV: I Just Wanted Some Sushi...
Since I moved to the Valley a couple days ago, Dyno and I had to find a new sushi spot. We immediately went to a place that's caught my eye for a while now. It's not too far from where I live, and it's got a catchy name: Fukyo.
The menu was even more enlightening, and I couldn't help but snap some pictures.
Nestled amongst the normal Spider, Caterpillar, and Vegetarian rolls are the Fukyo Roll and the Fukyo Too Roll. Both very good!
