Romance Cheese Friday

From the romance novel Stranded:
"The door is frozen shut," Scott told her, "and even if it could open, it's blocked by about 10 feet of snow."

"How will we survive? We have barely any food, no heat, and no water."

"We have each other," he said, pulling her closer.

Breathless, she gave in to him, feeling his body permeate with fervor and sensuality. They would nourish each other.
Um...no, sorry, I call no way. You need a piece of bread, some water, something. You can't survive in a cabin in the middle of nowhere by cuddling. They're not penguins, for petesake.

Romance Cheese Friday

Holiday-inspired Naughty or Nice gives us this scrumptious exerpt:
It was a simple thing to unbutton her dress. She even helped him, offering her nakedness to him as she twined her arms around his neck and pressed her heart against his. He lay on top of her, pleased by how wonderfully her tiny body fit against his.
Why are women in romance novels always petite? Why can't they be tall, round, leggy, or ....like me??

Romance Cheese Friday

This week's romance novel tidbit comes from The Seduction (even though it doesn't seem to be working to well for me...):
"At last," he said, his mouth moving over her. The heat in the room intensified as Jordan let his hands stroke her body.

Theresa was panting, her eyes glazed ..."I can't believe you made me wait," she managed as he thrust gently against her.

"It was necessary," he whispered between kisses. "To make me smart enough to realize I deserved you." Then he took them over the top.
...And I swear, that's the end of the chapter. "Over the top"? What's that supposed to mean? Were they driving up a hill or something? And what did he take over the top? Sometimes I think these novels are just so unclear. At least my hair looks good.

Romance Cheese Friday

Can you believe it? After such a long time I finally get my perky rear in gear and give you another romance novel exerpt.

This week's (or month's, rather) is from A Brother's Betrayal:
She felt Nicky's eyes burning in to her skin from across the table. She hesitated to look up; she didn't want to see his thoughts behind those heavy lashes. But she knew...knew what her brother-in-law was craving, knew that it was a forbidden hunger. But it made her body tingle and a warmness pass through her all the same.
One word: Ewwwwwwwwwwww!

Romance Cheese Friday

Man, this week went by fast...with me being out Monday and Tuesday, and the offices closing early today. Whoo!

Anyway, here's another cheesy excerpt from a romance novel. Forgive the shotty Photoshop work - my stupid boss' bitch spy kept passing by while I worked on it, and she made the picture completely horrible this week. Yes, I never take blame for anything.

This one's entitled: A Woman of Ecstasy:
As their lips met, he pulled her close and let his mind and his hands wander. His digits roamed over her curvy body, feeling her delicate form, worshipping her every nuance. He felt his body relax in the comfort of being so close to her.
Wait, why's the dude relaxing?? This is no time for sleep, buddy...

Romance Cheese Friday

Today's romance cheese tidbit is from All's Fair in Love & War:
"Your body is beautiful. Your skin is soft and silky," he whispered. "I love to admire the gentle, delicate curve of your lovely features." He stepped closer to her, and soon she could not breathe. His warm breath was the only part of him that touched her. "But what I want most is that most feminine part of you, the exquisite moist petals of your beauty and ultimate, infinite pleasure..."
I'm guessing the heroine is holding some just-watered flowers (in a basket, just like the picture).

But I don't know any guys who talk this way.
For that long.
Just breathing on you...
Damn, just shuttup and kiss her already!

Romance Cheese Friday

Yes, it's back! (Did you really miss it??) Anyway, this week's cheesy romance novel exerpt comes from A Spring Wedding:
As the maid laced up her blue velvet kirtle, Jessa began to feel as if all the air was being slowly squeezed out of her body. She tried to get past it and struggled with the other feelings sweeping through her. She tried to banish the uneasiness she felt about her pending marriage to Colin, reminding herself that his pedigree was impeccable. Yet her internal strife continued...
Two things: Thank God we don't have to wear kirtles anymore to suck the life out of us. Secondly, what makes a good pedigree in man - the way his tail points up or how his fur feels?

Romance Cheese Fri--er, Monday

Sorry I forgot about this one on Friday. I was too excited to skip work early and go see Pirates. Anyway, this week's romance novel exerpt comes from The Jealous Heart:
He couldn't wait any longer to hold her. He pulled her close and buried his nose in her hair. Her scent was intoxicating, almost animalistic, and it made his heart stop and his body quiver.
Sounds like girlfriend needs to wash her 'do.

Romance Cheese Friday

Today's romance novel exerpt comes from A Vision of Splendor (and appropriate for the Fourth of July weekend):
She felt her heart explode and thump like fireworks surging throughout her body. Now with all the expectation swirling around them, sparking into unbelievable bursts, heating up their bodies with its sizzle and pop. Making them both burn and explode as their mouths discovered each other.
Ouch. Never has a kissed been described so painfully. I hope they're wearing hazmat suits.

Have a great holiday weekend!

Romance Cheese Friday (on Thursday)

Because I'll be out of the Lounge tomorrow, I thought I'd indulge you in a little romance cheese today... This exerpt is another one from Love in the Meadows:
She held her breath, waiting for him to lean in to kiss her. She was trembling as she felt his warm breath and his hot lips on hers. And with one swift motion, his mouth opened wider and his luscious tongue slipped in.
Ew...I can imagine the big trail of spit that's going to be between them, if they ever pull apart from this kiss. Blech.

Romance Cheese Friday

This week's romance novel tidbit comes from High Seas Romance:
She loved him more than he could ever know. No matter if she overtook his soul and opened her heart to his, if he could read her mind, nor if it was burned in his skin like it was etched in her heart.
Um, how about you just tell him?!

Romance Cheese Friday

This week's romance cheese comes from The Passion and the Fire:
Her heart thundered within her chest, and she felt the heat of her passion well up inside her from her toes up to her head, tingling, pulsating. A lump formed in her throat as she watched him come towards her, and she felt her skin enflame as he licked his lips, hungering for her.
Hm...she sounds ill. Why is it that "passion" and "lust" make someone feel like they're sick?

Romance Cheese Friday

This week's romance novel exerpt comes from Surrender:
Open, she was so open to him. With courage and trusting grace, she gave him access to her greatest depths. She held nothing in reserve, needed nothing. For otherwise, her love for him would have been less.
Sounds like she's letting him check out her DVD collection. That's what I do when I really trust a dude.

Romance Cheese Friday

This week's romance novel tidbit comes from Bright Love Divine:
He wanted her body against his. With quick, hard hands, he stripped away the thin silk of the loose robe she wore, shucked off his pants, his shirt. Hot skin to hot skin. Smooth to rough. Soft to hard. Yes, please God. Heaven on Earth. Always. A miracle. His miracle.
I've heard of shucking oysters. But never pants. I wonder if that requires its own knife. And did he use the hinge method?

Romance Cheese Friday

Today's romance novel exerpt comes from The Midnight Ball:
He was her match, her mate. He held her to the last atom in his tender grasp. His skin was on fire. His tongue dipped in, swirled, moved on. God. Prayer and plea, he heard the single word inside his head as he caught fire from her consuming surrender. He wanted nothing more than to sink in to her hot, moist depths, and stay until he became a part of her.
I think this means he wants to discuss the difference between instrumental and normative political theory with her - maybe over a cup of coffee?

Romance Cheese Friday

This week's romance novel exerpt comes from That Valentine Charm:
"I love you," he breathed and buried his face in her neck, holding her so tightly it was almost painful. "And I need you more than air itself. Though I have no means of nourishing you or providing for you. My financial standing is nothing to boast about."

She pulled back the sheets and lay back onto the bed, pulling him toward her. "There can be no finer way for me to be nourished than through our love for each other."
I'm sorry, I have to disagree. What about a nice big steak? And some garlic mashed potatoes? I think that would nourish me more than some sentimental twit's rambling. After all, in another hour, the guy's gonna wanna raid the fridge and it's just gonna be empty. Ergo, money does buy happiness.

Romance Cheese Friday

This week's exerpt comes from Harvest of Passion:
No one had ever looked at her like that - with obvious hunger. He suddenly pulled her to him. Their bodies burned and exploded as their mouths discovered each other. She let her fingers brush against his hot skin, feeling his firm muscles and the curling chest hair.
Why is it in the books the dude's always have chest hair, but in the pictures they always have bare chests?

Romance Cheese Friday

This Friday's romance novel tidbit comes from Marriage, Arranged:
It seemed so right as he took her in his arms. To feel them close around her, fitting their bodies together, was like finding the long lost pieces of an intricate, internal puzzle. She craved him for who he was and also as bulwark and defense against upcoming loss.

He kissed her passionately, wanting to explore her deep femininity as if marveling some hot, tropical flower.
For all you who don't know...a bulwark is a strong support or protection. Yeah, I know that was foremost on your mind.
